The Northeastern Agricultural and Resource Economics Association (NAREA) the Canadian Agricultural Economics Society (CAES), and the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Economic Research Service (ERS) will jointly sponsor a Domestic and International Agricultural Policy workshop on June 29, 2008. The workshop will be held in conjunction with the joint 2008 annual meeting of NAREA and CAES in Quebec City, Quebec. The Association seeks to better inform policy makers by soliciting papers that will further the theoretical and empirical knowledge of effects of agricultural policies. The workshop will focus on assessing the effects of domestic U.S. and international agricultural policy by highlighting five broad areas: (1) domestic commodity policy; (2) risk mitigation policy; (3) agricultural trade policy; (4) policy for ecosystem services; and (5) biofuel policy. Approximately 10 papers on the above topics will be included in the workshop.
