Organized Session Proposals

If you ever wanted to organize a session at the Annual Meetings, this is the year to do it. Organized sessions provide an opportunity to explore ideas that are relevant to the CAES and agricultural economics discipline. Potential sessions include state of the art lectures, mentoring sessions for young academics/graduate students or joint industry-academic panel discussions. We are particularly interested in exploring novel formats, new ideas and broader engagement strategies. Members should make the most of this opportunity.

Proposal Guidelines: Proposals must not exceed 1000 words. They should be double spaced, with one-inch margins and 12 point font. Organized session proposals should include the following information:

  • Proposal title
  • List of session participants, including their role and contact information
  • Description of the topic, including why it will generate discussion at the Meetings
  • Description of the format

Format is open and may involve panel discussions, lectures, debates or roundtable meetings. New formats are encouraged.

Submission Guidelines: Organized sessions proposals should be emailed in PDF format to CAES President Al Mussell at . Please put "CAES 2012 Organized Session" in the subject line.

Selection: A committee headed by the CAES President will evaluate all organized session proposals. Authors will be advised on the status of their proposal(s) by the middle of March 2012.

Deadline for Submissions is midnight on January 31, 2012.

Selected Papers Proposals

Proposals for selected papers may be on any topic in agricultural, food or resource economics. Select paper proposals may include original research, policy analysis, teaching or extension.

Submission Information: Submissions should be two pages or less with double spacing, one-inch margins and 12 point font. The suggested format for proposals is:

  • Title
  • Author name(s), affiliations and contact information
  • Research objectives
  • Data and methodology
  • Description of results or expected results and their implications
  • Description of why presentation will generate discussion at the meetings

Authors must register online and upload their abstract at: https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=caes2012.

Please upload your 2-page abstract where it says 'Paper' (you do not need to upload a full paper). A brief two or three sentence description of your presentation should be entered into the abstract box.

Submissions must be received by midnight on Tuesday January 31, 2012.

Authors will be notified on the status of their proposal by March 2012.

Registration and Membership Requirements

In order to submit either an organized session or a selected paper proposal, at least one author must be a member of the CAES. All presenting authors must be registered at the meetings and a CAES member.
