2007 AAEA-CAES-WAEA Annual Meeting, Portland

Call for Papers

The 2007 Canadian Agricultural Economics Society (CAES) Annual Meeting will be held in conjunction with the American Agricultural Economics Association (AAEA) and the Western Agricultural Economics Association (WAEA) in Portland , Oregon on July 29 – August 1, 2007.

There will be two types of CAES paper sessions at the Portland meetings - Selected Papers and Principal Papers. The Selected Paper sessions are an opportunity for individual CAES members to share their current research. A double blind review process will be used to evaluate submissions to the Selected Paper sessions. The Principal Paper sessions are an opportunity for members to organize a group of three or four papers on a specific area that is of interest to the membership. Groups are encouraged to integrate AAEA and WAEA members and focus on issues of interest to the membership of all three organizations, but all topics will be considered. A committee headed by the CAES President will evaluate Principal Paper submissions.

Selected Papers

The deadline for submission of CAES Selected Paper abstracts is January 15, 2007. This year, we will be receiving submissions through the Community of Science (COS) website at http://ams.cos.com/cgi-bin/login?institutionId=1814&meetingId=247. First time COS users are strongly urged to submit their abstracts well in advance of the deadline, as all submissions must be received through this system by January 15. Authors are asked to submit a two-page abstract along with contact information for all authors. Detailed instructions are available on the COS website. Acceptance will be based on a clearly defined research question and methodology, and the potential contribution of the findings. Authors should make sure to specify "CAES Selected Paper" as the submission type. Each paper must only be submitted once to the Joint Annual Meeting. Abstracts also submitted to AAEA and/or WAEA sessions will not be considered for review.

Accepted papers will be presented in 90-minute sessions with up to three other papers on a related topic. Authors will be notified of selection decisions by mid-March. Once accepted, authors are encouraged, but not required, to forward completed papers to the Program Chair for submission to the AgEcon Search website maintained by the University of Minnesota . The deadline for posting prior to the meeting is June 1st. General questions regarding Selected Paper sessions should be directed to Sean Cash, Chair of the Program Committee, at .
